As the first integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in the country, TMAI has an initial production capacity of up to 1 GW, making it the largest solar panel factory in Indonesia. The facility is also capable of producing some of the world’s largest solar panels.
According to Pertamina, which cites data from the Ministry of Industry, the current domestic solar panel production capacity in Indonesia is 1.6 GW per year. “Our new factory will increase national production capacity to 3 GW so that it can later support the government’s target of 300-400 GW in 2060,” it stated, without providing further details.
These factories will support Indonesia’s target to achieve 17.1 GW of new solar PV installations in the country over the next 10 years under its Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025-2034 (see Indonesia To Add 42.6 GW Renewables By 2034 Under RUPTL).
“Our new factory will increase national production capacity to 3 GW so that it can later support the government’s target of 300-400 GW in 2060,” it stated, without providing further details. In mid-June, Indonesia and Singapore agreed to build a solar panel industry in the Riau Islands.
Ferry Salman, Managing Director of Sinar Mas, expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian Government’s support in steering the energy transition, especially in advancing solar energy development. “We appreciate the government’s continued commitment to fostering renewable energy through solar utilization.
Based on the data IRENA (2024) Solar PV globally dominates renewable energy contributions, reaching 73% or 346 GW of total installed renewable energy capacity by 2023. Meanwhile in Indonesia, until August 2024, the installed solar energy capacity had only reached 0.7 GW.

The global commercial and industrial container energy storage market is experiencing unprecedented growth, with demand increasing by over 450% in the past three years. Containerized storage solutions now account for approximately 55% of all new commercial solar installations worldwide. North America leads with 45% market share, driven by corporate sustainability goals and federal investment tax credits that reduce total system costs by 35-40%. Europe follows with 38% market share, where standardized container designs have cut installation timelines by 70% compared to traditional solutions. Asia-Pacific represents the fastest-growing region at 55% CAGR, with manufacturing innovations reducing container system prices by 25% annually. Emerging markets are adopting container storage for remote power, construction sites, and emergency backup, with typical payback periods of 2-5 years. Modern container installations now feature integrated systems with 100kWh to multi-megawatt capacity at costs below $450/kWh for complete container energy solutions.
Technological advancements are dramatically improving container energy storage performance while reducing costs for commercial applications. Next-generation container management systems maintain optimal performance with 60% less energy loss, extending system lifespan to 25+ years. Standardized plug-and-play container designs have reduced installation costs from $1,200/kW to $600/kW since 2022. Smart integration features now allow container systems to operate as virtual power plants, increasing business savings by 45% through time-of-use optimization and grid services. Safety innovations including multi-stage protection and thermal management systems have reduced insurance premiums by 35% for commercial container installations. New modular container designs enable capacity expansion through simple container additions at just $400/kWh for incremental storage. These innovations have improved ROI significantly, with commercial container projects typically achieving payback in 3-6 years depending on local electricity rates and incentive programs. Recent pricing trends show standard industrial container systems (100-200kWh) starting at $45,000 and premium systems (500kWh-2MWh) from $200,000, with flexible financing options available for businesses.
